Smolensk Aircraft Plant

     Smolensk Aircraft Plant JSC is one of the leaders in domestic aircraft industry. It specializes in manufacturing of various light planes. The enterprise founded in 1926 to repair planes and aircraft engines, went over to manufacturing of aircraft civil and double-purpose equipment in the post-war years.
     The most important projects of the plant were connected with the work on the following equipment and planes:
       • Yak-40, Yak-42, Yak-18T planes;
       • the Buran space shuttle;
       • the Geophysics (M-55)  high-altitude airplane;
       • the Finist (SM-92)  light multi-purpose aircraft and its patrol variant SM-92P for the RF Federal border service;
       • Yak-130 training plane;
       • the Ptchela-type unmanned flying vehicle for  the Story-P air reconnaissance system.

     Nowadays Smolensk Aircraft Plant JSC manufactures the following defense and double-purpose products:
       • Kh-59 missiles for the Ovod-M missile system;
       • Various light planes;
       • Unmanned flying vehicles;
       • Drones;
       • Sets for frontline aviation.

     Today the specialists of the enterprise go on developing new types of aircraft, manufacturing spare parts for planes, conducting aircraft maintenance and repairs.
     Besides, the plant manufactures consumer products such as folding furniture for tourism and leisure, a universal chair-bag and  a chair-rucksack for fishing and picnics as well as a wide range of souvenirs.
